8th September 2012 - Entering a Marathon was a hard one for me and one that I found really hard.
OK so its only a walking marathon and not a running one, but I still see walking 26 miles as a huge achievement, bearing in mind that three years previously I could hardly walk half a mile without needing a rest.
So on Saturday the 8th September 2012 at 6pm Mark dropped me off at Manchester Uniteds ground ready for a 8pm kick off and 26 miles around Manchester City Centre
So at 8pm we set off in the direction of Salford Quays, it was a lovely suprise to see Mum and Pam sat outside Media City waiting for me to cheer me along.
All was going well until about mile 14 when my left hip really started to grat, but I had got this far and I wasn't giving up, so onwards and upwards to the Manchester City Stadium, no favouritism in this marathon.
Then finally after 7hrs 46mins and 50seconds I crossed the finish line.
It was an amazing experience and one I would do again, so heres to the IOM End to End and IOM Parish Walk. I am also going to be looking for other long distance walks to do like the Coast to Coast.
